All-aluminum construction
Featherlite trailers are made with all aluminum frame and skin. Steel is used only in the axles and the gooseneck as well as some rivets. Trailer owners report that aluminum trailers pull easier and allow for more payload capacity. Featherlites traditionally hold their value longer and, with just routine maintenance, resist rust and corrosion. Durable all-aluminum construction secures you many more miles of hauling.
Featherlite Advantage flooring & walls
Featherlite enclosed trailers 1610 and 1611 feature sturdy, moisture resistant Featherlite Advantage wood flooring. The Advantage wood floor won’t soak up water or warp like untreated plywood might. The floors of Featherlite’s motorcycle trailers and ATV trailers have a thermally fused protective liner underneath to better protect the cargo. The Model 1610 also contains 3/8” thick Featherlite Advantage wood lining on the sidewalls.
PerfectFitTM System
The Featherlite PerfectFit System allows you to choose your ATV trailer, snowmobile trailer or motorcycle trailer your way. Your trailer will come with a number of standard features. However, you can opt to alter these features for a trailer more suited to you. In addition to standard features, you can add a mix of optional accessories to your trailer. Your Featherlite dealer will take you through a streamlined step-by-step process to discover the right trailer for you quickly and easily.
Pierce and roll
The pierce and roll system is used in the construction of each Featherlite aluminum trailer. Used by airplane manufacturers, the pierce and roll system drives high strength rivets into the aluminum, but no hole fully pierces the roof’s skin. Instead a secure, water-resistant crown forms up and around the bottom of every rivet, reducing opportunities for water leakage. Standard riveting used by other companies can create hundreds of holes in the roof of an enclosed trailer where water can infiltrate if rivets or openings become worn.
Wiring harness
On Featherlite trailers, all wires are bundled in a protective jacket, known as the Featherlite wiring harness. Wire harnesses provide a water-tight seal, protect against wire wear and tear and make connecting them easy. Without the harness, the individual wires would hang loose and unprotected. This is especially important for the outdoor enthusiast who wants to take their trailer into the wilderness.
Roof rail
You’ll find a sturdy 2" radius aluminum roof rail on Featherlite’s enclosed ATV trailers and motorcycle trailers with a 4" roof rail on our Model 1648 snowmobile trailer. The roof rail is strong, and it looks great too!
Safety
All Featherlite trailers meet federal safety standards.
