New “Freedom” trailer offers versatility

Cresco, IA (June 18, 2009) – When Featherlite Trailers’ set its sights on creating an ice fishing trailer, it had two criteria. The trailer had to be tough enough to withstand a northern winter and as versatile as its future owners. The result was the Model 1612 “Freedom” ice fishing trailer.

One look at the Freedom reveals its ice fishing roots. Seven access panels in the trailer floor encourage let fishermen set up multiple rods and tip-ups. A modular captain chair can be mounted in one of three spots, so the fishing rods are always within reach. Other features include plenty of storage, including a dedicated ice augur rack and a propane furnace.

The best feature is the hydraulic axles, which automatically lower the trailer body to sit flush with the ice. This feature eliminates the hassle of manually stabilizing the trailer.

While waiting for the fish to bite, fishermen can pass the time with the Freedom’s numerous amenities. A kitchenette complete with a microwave can provide a warm meal or a hot cup of coffee. On slow fishing days, use the DVD player to watch a movie on the flat screen TV. The trailer also comes with two couches, swing-down beds and inputs for fresh water and electricity.

With all these amenities, overlooking the Freedom’s extraordinary durability is understandable. The all-aluminum construction make the Freedom resistant to the double-header assault of constant moisture and road salt that plagues other vehicles. Inside, the floor has been lined to withstand the in-and-out traffic of snow-caked boots, tackle boxes and unused ice augurs.

The Freedom doesn’t have to be put away when summer comes. Its rear ramp lets the trailer serve as a toy hauler. And the modular furniture can fit a family or hunting party comfortably. This is the perfect trailer for an extended camping or hunting trip!
